Light Meter — Terms of Service

Last updated: February 20, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Light Meter application (the "App") operated by Keep Shooting Film ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Description of the App

Light Meter is a photography tool that uses your device's camera to measure ambient light levels and calculate exposure settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) for film and digital photography. The App is intended as a reference aid and does not guarantee exposure accuracy.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and these Terms.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to interfere with the App's servers or infrastructure
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices within the App

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that exposure readings will be accurate in all conditions, that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions.

Photography exposure depends on many variables. You use the App's readings at your own discretion and risk. We recommend verifying critical exposures with a dedicated light meter.

Camera Access

The App requires access to your device's camera to function. Camera data is processed entirely on-device for light metering purposes. No images or video are captured, stored, or transmitted. You can revoke camera access at any time through your device's Settings, but the App will not function for metering without it.

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics) for analytics and crash reporting. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party service providers.

Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App, including its design, code, graphics, and content, are owned by Keep Shooting Film and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

App Store

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Keep Shooting Film, not Apple Inc. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App. To the extent any warranty is not disclaimed, Apple is not responsible for it. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KEEP SHOOTING FILM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us. Upon termination, all licenses granted to you will immediately cease.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
