Light Meter — Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 20, 2026
Keep Shooting Film ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Light Meter mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Device Identifier
When you first launch the App, a random unique identifier (UUID) is generated and stored securely in your device's Keychain. This identifier is sent to our server during device registration along with your device locale, app version number, timezone, and platform (iOS). This helps us deliver relevant in-app announcements and manage device-level features. The UUID is not linked to your Apple ID or any personally identifiable information.
Analytics & Crash Data
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. These services collect app usage events (e.g. settings changed, filters applied, metering actions) and crash logs.
We have disabled Advertising ID (IDFA) collection, Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) collection, and ad personalisation signals.
Camera Access
The App requires camera access to measure light levels for exposure calculation. Camera frames are processed entirely on-device in real time. We do not capture, store, or transmit any images or video from your camera.
Local Settings
Your preferences (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, display options, custom filters) are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or other personal information through the App.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third-party advertisers.
Third-Party Services
The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics by Google. These services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Data Retention
Device registration data is retained on our servers for as long as the App is installed or until you request deletion. Firebase Analytics data is retained according to Google's default retention policies (currently 14 months for event-level data).
Your Rights & Choices
- You can revoke camera permission at any time in iOS Settings. The App will not function for metering without it.
- You can request deletion of your device data by contacting us at the email below. Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data.
- On eligible devices, analytics can be disabled through a developer setting within the App.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
